how to do a proper chain slack for your KTM dirt bike

would just like to share a little idea here.as most of the rider here are brough up riding jap bike, most would just use the rule of thumb of "3 fingers" to do a quick check whether the chain slack is in order.but to use this measurement on the ktm bike, would damage the chain, sprockets and even the rear hub, etcto properly adjust the chain slack on a ktm, please follow the steps below

1. remove the rear shock (take you a couple of mins)

2. use a car jack or some kind of wooden block and put it under the rear wheel

3. now, lift up the rear wheel till the swingarm is parallel to the ground or in horizontal position

4. at this position, the chain is at its tightest

5. from here, loosen the chain and adjust it to have approximately 10mm

6. 15mm of slack - now, tighten up the chain block and the rear axle nut and ya are done!when the rear shock is back in position, the chain will look "more" slack than the chain on ya normal jap bike, but please do not panic, this is correct.
