nostalgia part 2
i wonder if any of you folks remember this toy, this is the toy car my parent bought for me 10years++ for me, it is shown in the cartoon "MASK", and this truck is called "Jackhammer", is the bad guy.
it's TGIF!!
already have some plans for the weekend, hopefully can make it for all the plans.
suppose to go msia on saturday, but somehow, there are rumours about riot happening in JB area, so now my plan KIV until further notice from my friends. don't want to get caught in such situation when you are only a foreigner in a foreign land.
i don't know how you folks spend your weekend, but for myself, i need to plan it very carefully as i have 2 kids that need attention and someone to look after.
guess i will stop here, eyes already getting tired, from all the typing and staring at the big bulky monitor (ya, no flat screen for me here).
see ya.

my daughter
after visiting his family and back home yesterday night, while lying on the bed going to sleep, i suddenly thought of my baby girl. the chubby little girl you see in my previous blog is my daughter which myself and my wife nearly lost her during my wife 5mth prengnancy (it is still a secret until now)
i can still remembered, last year sometimes in april/may, while working, i got a panic call from my wife that she is bleeding, non-stop. so immediately i tell my boss i need to leave urgently and rush my way back home. i was riding my 135cc bike like a madman, it would defintely stop by any traffic police if they see me, but i don't care anything too much now, only concerns of the safety of my wife and my unborn child.
reach home, my wife was lying on the bed, so immediately i brough her to hospital, and trying to calm her down along the way, while driving like a mad man again... when we reach hospital, she was admitted to a observation room by a nurse. what the nurse can say is, if bleeding don't stop, they will get a doctor to examine her later. so at the meantime, i accompany my wife.
we were in the room for don't know how many hours (can't remember) but i know i was damn hungry as it was way past the dinner time. and the nurses only come in once awhile to take a look and that's it...
i was praying silently hopefully my unborn child would be safe and sound and also the safety of my wife and very worried, but infront of my wife, i just pretend to be calm and told my wife it will be fine, our baby girl will be too.
it was sometime past midnight i guess, the bleeding seem to slow down and have stop, quickly get a nurse to check again. so after the nurse get a green light from the doc, we are allow to leave, and told us, if it bleed again, we will need to come back hospital.
we have called our gynae the next day as she is the doc who help to deliver our boy, so we arrange to for my wife to be examine by her, she say it should be fine and we should go back to hospital if this happen again.
after this incident, i have been really praying silently all these days until the little girl was born, thank God, my daughter was safe until delivery and are in good health. i believe that my little girl will have good luck as the chinese got a saying "you will have good luck after near death incident". hope she will be well and safe for the rest of her life.

todak hunting, the "Singapore Marlin" we call it
nostalgia part 1
i was kinda stun to se this bike on the street again, it is the 3 pokes rims model, instead of the other yamaha TZE125 with the spokey rim. this model was the much sough after TZR as compared to the spokey rim model.
the engine was quiet, and much of the parts on the bike was pretty stock with OEM exhaust, muffler, tank, side mirror, except the paint job. i keep looking at the bike while seping my kopi-o.
memory start to flow back into my mind, i remember when i just started riding back in 1992, this bike was considered the fastest 2B bike (except yamaha SDR200) which are capable to achieve top speed of 160km/h. it just so happen that one of my classmate was riding one, and i always envy him when both of us was riding back home from Macpherson to jurong, he would always pull away from me when his yamaha YPVS (yamaha power valve system) activated.
my then the honda raider 135cc, was only capable to hit top at 135km/h...
lastly, i'm still amaze to see a well maintained yamaha tzr rooming around the street of singapore, and it should be around more than 20years...

How to change fork oil and fork seal (46mm KYB cartridge fork)
it is pretty straight foward to strip the fork, job will be easier if you got a air wrench.
This cartridge fork is similar to many other bike with USD fork, like the YZ125, DT200WR, this fork is easier to work with as compare to the Showa twin chambers fork, which it’s slightly more complicated, but still, no rocket science, for a start, we will kick off with this KYB cartridge fork.
with the fork out of triple clamp, before you start any work, back out all compression and rebound clicker, count them and make a note.
(with the fork collapse, there’s a rebound rod in there, remove that out and keep somewhere safe as it is soft)
2. pour out all the fork oil into a container, you may want to pump the rod to help to remove the fluid faster
3. with the air wrench, and correct size allen (a quality type), spin out the base valve out from under the fork leg, base valve should spin out relatively easy
4. with the base valve out, the entire cartridge can be pull out of the fork tube
5. now, you can start to split the fork tube
6. pry open the duct cover with a large screw driver
7. use a small screw driver to remove the clip inside
8. with the clip remove, hold the fork tube, 1 hand on the chrome part, 1 hand on the other fork tube, with a swift jerk action, pull apart the fork tube
9. from here, you can seethe seal, 2nos teflon coated bushing, remove them
10. with the correct order, slip the duct cover down the chrome tube, follow by clip, seal (before it can cut the seal), the outer bushing, and lastly the inner bushing
11. slip the chrome tube into the other fork leg, let the inner bushing in and then the outer bushing, use a fork seal rammer to knock it lightly into the fork tube, it should seat it easily
12. now, use the fork seal rammer and seat the seal in snugly (not to much strength), just make sure it seat down squarely
13. put back the clip, and duct cover (you can use the seal rammer)
14. now you are done, with seal replacement
15. collaspe the fork tube, make sure the fork tube are sliding in and out effortlessly
16. then slid back in the cartridge, and use ya hand to screw back the base valve slowly, when it is hadn tight, use the air wrench to tighten it, and then a torque wrench to it suggested torque number
17. now, pour in ya favourite fork oil and bleed it properly (this is important)
(replace the rebound rod after it is bleeded)
18. with the correct oil height, slip in the fork spring and install the fork cap (remember to secure the jam nut against the fork cap)
19. set all clickers back to original setting and you are ready to go.
hope this helps.
one of my fav pic with my wife
was flipping through some old photograph yesterday and found this pic, it was nicely taken by a good friend of mine while we were doing some exploration in the perimeter area of singapore, it was sometimes back in 2001 if my memory doesn't failed me.
this was a time when both my kids was not born yet, and both of us are realy enjoying going to alot of places exploring. with 2 kids now, we are really tie up and can't really go back to the times like what we have been doing when it is just the both of us.
with kids or no kids, there are the good and bad when you look at it from both ends, ultimately, myself and my wife have not regretted our choice, and we are so glad that my 10 month old daughter are able to crawl around the house and started to learn to grab hold of something and standing up without any assistance.
but we will be back, when both my kids are old enough, and perhap when we are older, the memory will be sweeter.

how to fish for halfbeak
the above black barred halfbeak is a seasonal fish, it can be found commonly in sg water during its season, they often travel in big school, sometimes small groups, or some may stray away. from this picture, the largest i have caught is about 1feet or 12" in length including the "beak".
if you look carefully at the mouth, "halfbeak" show you that the fish have a shorter beak on top and a much longer beak below. the halfbeak season is from Jan - Mar.
this is a easy fish to target, with polarised sunglass, under a good sunlight, you can actually see it swimming on the water surface. i learnt this valuable trick from my fishing mate, Mr Desmond Tan, aka DesT, a experienced surface fisher hunter with his whippy noodle rod.
now, come to the rig setup for targetting the HB. from your main line, link up a 4-6lbs leader line about 2feet long, with a small tamban hook size at the terminal. and you will need a float, the float location will be at the junction where the main line "meet" the leader line. now the rig is ready for action.
walk around the jetty, eg labrador park, St john island, etc are good place to hunt for them. when you "see" them, cast it infront of them, and reel it in slowly. let the fish "see" your bait (you can use slice prawn meat or halfbeak meat, which really works wonder!) when you see the fish dart toward ya bait, pause for a moment. within a few seconds, tighten the line and strike, you would have had a solid hook up. sometimes, you can actually see halfbeak doing water surface ballet dancing.
with a good day, you can easily bring up 20-30 pieces alone. and with the same set up, you can target todak as well, a much bigger water surface fish. i hope with this simple explaination, you will be able to get your first halfbeak.
special thanks to Mr DesT

how to do a proper chain slack for your KTM dirt bike
motocross bike race sag setting up guide, by yours truly
How to do proper race sag set up for ya dirt bike?
This setting up of race sag procedure that follows will give ya a ballpark figure of a recommeded starting point for any suspension tuning. My article will guide you to the proper race sag adjustment for your weight. Fine tuning of damping adjustments will comes later. The first step toward determining proper suspension adjustment is to set the rear spring preload so the proper race sag is achieved.
1. Firstly, load the whole bike onto a bike stand, with both wheel off the ground, allowing the rear wheel to be fully extended
2. now, use a maker pen and mark somewhere vertically above the centre of the chain adjuster block as your reference point for measurement
3. use a measurement tape and take the reading, eg 615mm
4. for next measurement, unload the bike from the stand, with a fully dress up rider (with helmet, boots on, etc), standing with both feet on the peg, press down the rear fender gently and let it rebound on its own, do not bounce! Now, with reference to the measurement marking, take down this reading, eg 510mm
5. so your race sag is 615mm – 510 = 105mm
6. as a ball park figure, for most Japanese mx bike, recommendation of race sag to start off at 100mm, and for KTM, 105mm – 110mm
7. so with race sag at 105mm, you will need to increase preload by cranking on the top shock collar, when the sag with the rider on the bike read 515mm, you achieve the recommended race sag at 100mm.
With your race sag properly setup, you will be able to fine tune your damping setting from here, and by now, your bike should be handling much better than before, so go out and feel it!

my aircon down...
just happen that my aircon is not working properly, perhap due to aging, problems start to act up.
so contacted my regular aircon guy to take a look, found out that the cooling coil is choked and need to be cleaned. so after a couples of hour of distmantling, spraying of chemical into the coil, seeing all the dirt being purge out of the coil, you can really see the dirty/stained coil become so clean and shiny, just like a new coil.
when everything was assembled and back in place. cool, you can really feel more cooling air flowing out.
for those of u guys who need aircon repair or serivicng in your home, this aircon guy is good, very reliable, he has been in this trade for more than 30years.

day before NDP
so, should be staying at home, and watch the TV instead, be a full time "couch potato" when the parade start in late afternoon.
and my plan in the day time, for tomorrow, will be bringing my wife to a pond for a short fishing session, thinking to bring home some fishes for dinner, species targetted like kim chio (golden promfret), ang kuey (red chicken they call it) etc
yesterday evening, have spoke to my wife about starting this blogging stuff and she is pretty amaze by "how" i come about starting this stuff. also after some discussion, we feel it will be good if we can have some service provider contact in here, in order to be more comprehensive and helpful, instead of only helping ppl to sell used stuff.
so for a start, let me go thru a list of item which i can think of, and then to start to list them down in here, and of coz, all this service provider i have used before will be reliable and trustworthy. for eg, you can pass me your regular car mechanic contact to me so that i can post up in here etc..
coming to 12noon already, stomach hungry liao, going off for lunch soon.. see ya later.

the reason for this setting up this blog
1. the uncle i work with
2. the reason i name this "the 2nd hand shop"
3. learn to do new stuff online
1. i had lunch with my colleague, this 50 odds uncle, and his contractor. when i join them, they were toking about blogging. then they ask if i blog, i say no, and i do not know how to do it. and they ask me how old. then they say, with my age, i should have no problem to pick up and learn new thing when both of them are already 50+. so they gave me this google + blog blah blah blah and so here i am.
2. with referene to this morning, my mate challange me to sell his stuff online, i think here could be a good place to start with (hopefully), as i still dunno know much about ebay, yahoo auction and such. so i name my blog here as "the 2nd hand shop". anyone who is interested to let me TRY and sell ya stuff can kindly let me know.
3. i'm a IT idiot, ask me pa game, surf net, i still ok, but if to do web design, i think too cheem for me, also, what is HTML, i dunno, etc . so guess i should start off something simple, like this.
so, lets see how it goes from here, pls feel free to give me ya comments.
the challange
just hope i do not create a fool out of myself.
