2008 WR250R

Directly descended from our YZ motocrossers and WR off-road machines—even the original Yamaha YA-1 of 1955—the all-new WR250R is here to make Yamaha’s off-road prowess street accessible.


Not exactly an enduro model and not a streetbike either, the WR250R is for riders who ride off-road more than on. Its sibling, the supermoto-inspired WR250X, is for riders who spend more time on pavement.


Engine:
Fresh-sheet design 250cc liquid-cooled, DOHC engine with two titanium intake valves and two steel exhausts, forged piston and plated cylinder for outstanding durability.
Pentroof combustion chamber with downdraft-type straight intake helps make excellent power across the rev band, with maximum power at 10,000 rpm.


First use of fuel injection on a 250 Yamaha on/off-road bike. The system relies on input from a crank sensor, intake air pressure sensor and throttle position sensor feeding a compact ECU to provide optimum combustion.

An ECU-controlled EXUP exhaust valve, along with an electronic intake control valve, broadens the powerband.


Large titanium intake valves with WPC processed high lift cams, a treatment in which the surface is sprayed with fine powder at over 100 meters per second to increase surface hardness.

Three-axis engine layout keeps the engine compact. Wet sump tucks between frame rails to keep the engine height down.


Rare earth-type ACM alternator keeps the weight down while providing all the current needed to run the FI and lighting systems.


Direct ignition coil sits atop the spark plug—another first on a Yamaha on/off-road model.

Six-speed gearbox provides a wide spread of ratios, with shower-type lubrication for reliability. A special light-action clutch makes shifting a snap.


Tucked-in, three-chamber muffler keeps the mass concentration up and the bike quiet.
Electric start only: Leaving off the kickstarter keeps it light and simple.

A slim, steel fuel tank is shaped with knee grip in mind, and the entire ergonomic layout is designed to make the rider feel like part of the bike.


Narrow, YZ-inspired seat features gripper-type cover for great seat-of-the-pants feel. Seat height is 36.6 inches.

WR enduro-style instrument panel provides excellent visibility in spite of the compact size. Basic mode provides speed, clock, tripmeter and self-diagnostic function. Measurement mode includes stopwatch, distance-compensating tripmeter, etc.

this is fuel injected machine, 6 speed, e-start, a total new engine compare to the existing wr250f, a good bike for recce and explore new ground for fishing.

i happen to saw this car washing station when i walk along this main road. it stated $3 for car, $2.50 for taxi, my friend wash his MPV at $4.

i have been to this car washing place almost every weekend, coz it is cheap, fast, and the auntie collecting the $$ is polite, and best of all, it's 24HRS!!!

but they only use normal washing soap for your car, don't think about those $6 or $8 bubble type of shampoo for your car. it is normally long Q, long waiting time, and sometimes not even clean properly. i rather pay $3, moderate clean and at least i can't complaint much.

now, i bet you guys must be very "kan cheong" to know where is this car washing station right? hehee

ok, let me try my best to explain, you guys know the golf range along the sin mind area? with a newly built prawn pond there, and with a big kopi shop and open air carpark? if you were driving from ang mo kio, you would need to turn right into this road, and the golf range is on the right hand side of you. if you come from bishan, you would be driving straight into sin min area.

with the golf range on your right, there is a T-junction immediately infront and you need to turn left. and then, you need to keep left and watch out on your left, look out for the chervolet work shop entrance, this entrance is share by the workshop and the car washing station, the washing station is to the right side, go into the right entrance.

just follow the Q and wait for your turn, inside there, if you drive a van or lorry that need disel, they sell disel as well, i guess should be cheaper than outside petrol kiosk, but too bad not petrol.

revisit to Botak Jones

last sunday, me and my wife decided to visit Botak Jones outlet at AMK again, but this time round, we went at about 5pm+. the kopi shop was not as crowded as the first time we went here.

going through the menu, wife pick the Cajun Chicken while i chose the 200gm Lamp Chop. my wife Cajun Chicken came first, so she was whacking the food like a hungry wolf, while i was carrying my 11mth old daughter.

after about 10mins, my lamp arrived, i pour some HP sauces onto the meat, this sauce taste abit sour, kinda like vinegar, maybe was to cover the lamp's smell. while eating the meat, i realise that the meat was limited, i can say that the bones took up 20%, those fats 35% and i'm left with half portion of meat only...

the only stuff that make me filling are the unlimited fries which i can't finish. just hope that the lamp chop can have abit more "eat-able portion" .

and by the time we left Mr Jones stall, queue is formed up at the ordering point and kopi shop is almost full house.

latest update of Doug Henry's injury

if you supermoto guys still remember, Doug Henry had a nasty crash during one of the supermoto practise and was out of action for quite sometimes. the above pic are the latest update.

Doug is able to stand up on his own now, this photo was capture by one of his fan, showing his determination although the nasty crash has put him down greatly. however, his presence at one of the supermoto track have got all his fans hype up.

speedy recovery Doug, hope to see ya back on the bike soon.
